Neighbor & I have been talking about hitting Powell this month. Neither of us have ever been there. We're thinking about going out of Bullfrog and taking a tent etc. and camping somewhere. I've got an 18' Caravelle with a 350 Chev. / Mercruiser so we can get away a ways if we need to. We're looking for advice on where to go & what to take with us. My boat has a 25 gal. tank and we were planning on taking about 15 - 20 gal. of gas in cans so we could go a ways and still get back. Advice please!! If ya wanna send a PM with your phone #, I'll be glad to call you.

Thanx

Hey Geezer,

I've been pounding the fishing forums, looking at maps, reading websites, etc. and I'll tell you what we've come up with because we're heading down April 30th. Hite is our favorite place, but it isn't launchable. Last year we had great luck for stripers at Wahweap. Also last year we fished Bullfrog area in the fall and hardly caught any fish. So in our opinion the only option was to go north to where fishing structure is plentiful for LMB, SMB, walleye, and crappie (the species we like to target). So we're launching from Bullfrog and going to camp somewhere in the Good Hope Bay area. Everyone raves about the fishability of GHB so we're going to try it, plus it's not far from Hite so we know the structure will be good. Bullfrog is a deeper channel with lots of sheer rock cliffs, etc...not so condusive for the above mentioned species. I know some people love Bullfrog, but it hasn't worked great for us. They say Blue Notch and Red canyon have good camping spots there in GHB. Anyways hope this helps. I'm like you, I've got a 20 gallon tank and I'm taking 20 gallons with me, hope it's enough!
