Went out somewhere west of Brigham City and fished for about 3 hours with only one little bite So I switched spots and within 10 minutes latched on to this beast. I was in an area where it was a little tough to land the fish .Lucky for me a kind Gentleman nearby heard my calls for help, netted the monster for me -measured and weighed it (31" -- 12 lbs) And even snapped a couple pics for me .Thanks again for your help. Now if only I had signed up for the contest.

Not sure if my pictures will work with this format --will try to fix it.

Congratulations sounds like a great fish. I couldn't open the picture. Nice job. J

Good job! I would love to see it , but it wouldn't open.

That is a MONSTER. I was able to open the photo, but requires it to be un-zipped.
Anyway, nice cat catch. And, ya, too bad you haven't entered the contest. I doubt it's too late, but would have been nice to get that one counted.

Wish you had too, entered the contest that is. As TC puts it - ain't too late! Ya done broke my mark - 30 and 10lbs. Been inches away, this will be the year. Lavaman is going to test his knots (nots) and do the same.

I went ahead and unzipped and reposted your pix. Might be best not to zip your shots. In this day and age of viral infestations - it's not a "safe" format. Plus harder for users (them "smart" phones and tabloids)

Congrats on a hog. Might if I ask what your bait preference (or should I say the cat's preference) was?
Nice lookin kitty! [cool] Way to go...

Now that is an ugly cat -- ugly being the ultimate complimentary term for channel cats. Where there is one cat like that there will surely be others. Jump in the contest and let's see some more like that -- even if they are northerners.

The south will win. Yeah, yeah, I know.... we haven't even got a southern entry yet but lots of time left.[Wink]

speaking of the cat contest. CS, is there a post hidden on here (maybe not hidden, I just can't find it) that has the current list of contest entrants and what's been submitted so far?

Gotta go up one, over, then back down. On the Contest Board - it's a Sticky

2014 Utah Catfish Challenge: Entrants Standings[/url]

I haven't put any fancy graphs together, thought it might be too mean (or inspirational) to the southern Cat Chasers. I've got some updating as far as entrants go, but I think I've got the entries so far. Probably won't rate em unless a contestant have made him/herself official.
Still lots more folks expressing interest than putting the dough up to the challenge. But there's plenty of good catting days ahead.

And if it weren't so goshdarned windy today! I'd scheduled a round on the smoker, just hope my flames don't blow out! Chilly winds doth blow!
