Spent the weekend there in the wind fishing kinda sucked. Lots of small bass, full moon and cold front. Weights weren't as large as usual, however the larger fish caught were really fat. Recused a few fish flaring on the surface with crappie suck in their mouths. Tried fishing deeper but they were shut down. Sturgill was loaded with crappie. Most the fish caught were below the powder. Saw one 6 lb Smallie and one 7 lb large. Small fish Tokyo bay, grizzlie bear, cemetery, hay field, swedes. Before cold front lots of 5 lbrs on cranks and jerks. We had 18 boats and only one large cat caught. 2 day 10 fish weight 27 lbs. usually in 30s. Everybody had fish. Waters up.

Thanks for the report. Can't stand that wind over there sometimes. Got blown off all three trips i took last year. A buddy and I will probably be heading over there this weekend, so I'll post when I get back. Any size to those crappie you mentioned?

Biggest ones in sturgill. Couple boats anchored in mouth. Water temp low fifties. Boats were hitting brownlee creek pretty hard.

Was out there with Snake River Bass on Saturday. The crappie were pretty much everywhere lighting up the graphs, mostly in 10-15'. They all appeared to be small, caught a couple that confirmed they were small. Might be pretty good in a year or two when this crop grows up a bit.
Tried to attach a pic of that 7.16 lb green fish, hopefully it worked.

That's a beauty! Thanks for letting us ride your permit. Big fish was 3.6 on Sunday and big sack was 13. I hope we go back to brownlee in March next year. The wife and I are gonna hit Walcott this weekend, if you get a wild hair I'd be happy to show you around. Nice boat, it sure stands out. I bet we see a 7 lb smallie out of Walcott this year.

Thanks. We enjoyed fishing with you guys. Hopefully everyone was able to stay out of the worst of the wind on Sunday. We have fished a couple of tournament days when it blows 20-30mph all day out there and it wasn't too fun.
I might have to take you up on that Walcott offer if I get a free weekend. My former partner used to live in the Burley area and was always showing me picts of some of those Walcott beauties.

Wow, that's a heck of a fish... Don't know if I've ever caught a largemouth out of brownlee.
Glad to hear that there are some crappie around, even if they are small . Last year was pretty quiet as far as crappie goes over there, at least the few times I made it over.

Fished yesterday 4/19. Fished with a buddy and his dad. Had a great time, minus the wind. We caught a number of small bass, and a few nice ones on crawdad type crank baits, and yellow crappie jigs.
Caught hundreds of crappie, all but 15 are still swimming .the largest were about 8 inches. Once you find a school, it's non stop. Found them from brownlee creek to sturgil, and they were all suspended over about 20 feet of water at about 6 feet below the surface. They are small, but it was still fun, plus the big bass seemed to be keying in on the schools and so every once in a while you'd get surprised. Caught a few that spit crappie out and talked to a guy who had rescued one on the surface.
