I went out to Newton this morning after work and there is about 3.5 inches of ice. I drilled a couple of holes, and it was great to be out there. I didn't fish because of sleep commitments. I did chat with a guy that had been there about an hour and he said he had caught about 20 to 25 fish. Perch mainly, and a couple crappie. He didn't check his auger until he got there and it was rusted and chipped. He pounded a hole by rock in hand. He was using ice flies tipped with nightcrawler. The fifteen minutes or so we were with him, he had several bites. All were very lite. Fishnate and I are going tomorrow from about 7 to 12 if anyone is interested in going. Make sure you all check your blades. Good luck!
