Okay I seen lots of you out fishing this weekend and no reports, did you all get skunked like me or are you just keeping things under wraps? I tried Cutler early Saturday morning in the cold and rain sprinkles and ended up drawing a blank on my two hour adventure. I was helping my 4 and 6 year old nieces and was in fear of my poles lives as they kept reeling in and tangling and whipping the ground and all that good stuff like stepping on poles and etc. So it might not have been the best test point but they had fun. Poles survived just fine also, note to self there is a reason for cheap poles, take them on similar future trips. So your trip might not be worth a post to you but I'm still curious let us know here what you caught or didn't catch and where. Thanks J

Nuthin last night at UL west side. Knew I shouldn't go, but it had hit 70, so I thought, maybe..... but the water was cold, clouds were blowing in, and nobody catching anything. Soon.

Thanks SB, let us know how your Willard trip goes, hope to get over there and catch my first wiper sometime this spring also. Hope it is as easy as he keeps telling you it is. Good luck. J

My experiences have been a little spotty recently; got blanked on friday with the cold temps and stormy weather, but thursday evening was good and I snuck out today for an hour and did well too. Been finding some panfish in the harbors at UL and caught one 20" cat as well. I think the fishing is pretty good right now on the warmer days. Seems to be better with a little chop on the water, per the usual. good luck guys!

I have started to get a few crappies at the Provo boat harbor. A few more weeks and they should start at DC.

Hit Hyrum Saturday for a couple of hours with my wife. Caught 1 rainbow, water temp is between 51 and 55, murky, can't see more than 2 or 3 feet. Everyone I talked to said it is extremely slow.

Thanks Rod, sorry they didn't respond very well. Is the pond filling up pretty fast now? Seems like the murky water is always a tough time for me to catch fish at Hyrum. Thanks for the report. J

It is full and spilling. The bass should be piling into the tree line very soon.

Hey Panfisher, I havent caught them at DC....would you be willing to share your thoughts on that topic? PM me if you wish. thanks!

I have caught them around the rocky shore of the Island and on the west side of Charleston, you have to walk down the tracks a ways, and then hit the rocky/brushy areas. Same places your SM will hang around, usually in late May early June.
Use white tube jigs with a charturse tail.

I assume that means that they will be filling porcupine now Hyrum is full. Maybe Hyrum will clear up now so it will be more fishable. Thanks for the update. J

Ok Here's my report. All from the bank.
Fri 18th Apr - went to Pineview for two hours and fished both sides of Cemetery Point. Nothing...no bite. Used worms on bottom and and float. With jig and not jig.
Drove up to Causey and fished the north arm. Tried plugs/rapalas, worms, and bobber. Nothing.
It was very windy...thats why I didn't have the boat.

19 Apr Sat - After doing yard work I headed back up to Causey. Got there around 430 and hiked out the Skullcrack trail to the point and slid and skidded down to the rocky point. Started fishing around 5. Caught one small tiger in the first 30 mins. About an hour later hooked Moby the rainbow. faught him forever it seemed like and it wouldn't wear out. Biiiig rainbow(24 inches guessing)....best fighting trout I've tackled in a long time. I played him a long time trying to wear him out. Yep he broke the line on a rock when I tried to land him. Caught another rainbow 14 incher later. Climbed back up out of there around 730pm. Watched some cliff divers with wet suits. Pretty cool.

Took a buddy out in my kayaks Friday evening. We put in at the marina and headed towards the middle fork. worked some cover and flats eventually heading to the remaining "islands". we worked all the points and drops throwing everything we could. Nothing biting and no follows. He was musky and i was bass fishing. Went back to the docks and worked them- Nothing but carp rolling around. Nice evening for a paddle though.

Last night took the canoe out on Pineview worked the south fork side (anderson cove area) of the lake and caught a smallie. Water is murky and still a bit cold.

Nice smallie and report, appreciate it and welcome to BFT, looks like you are fairly new. I think that's one of the first smallies I remember seeing so far this year nice job we love it when the bass wake up. Later J

Thanks for the info man. I'm still waiting for the water to warm up for the crappie spawn and I will be taking a 2-3 day trip out there. Hopefully find some big crappie. As well how low is the water level comparing to last year???

We tore up the largies (and a couple nice smallies [Smile] ) down south. Bass were on fire one day, bumpin' and grindin' and ignoring us the next day. Most fish we caught were post spawn to my surprise. Still able to sight fish a few in the boat but I don't really like fishing that way.
I did manage a border jumping smallie from Quail.

the water temps are in the low 49- low 50's depending on where you're at. This is according to another post on a different forum. Water levels at pineview are about the same as last year currently. hopefully it will continue to rise. I think it will.

I live about a 3 minute hike to the water and drive past it everyday and have been keeping an eye on the levels so far it's looking alright.
