Ok for those of you that don't have time to get out, but still want to have your techniques tried.... I shouldn't do it, but I'm thinking about trying Hyrum on Friday, here's my rational; The week of storms and cold will most likely turn off the warm water fishies and at the same time it should slow the runoff making Hyrum a little clearer and hopefully giving the fish a better chance to find something to eat... If you were going to try such a venture what would your opening play be as far as rigging and general locations, like depth and etc.???

Suspect I will start with a trolling approach in the shallows near shore and maybe use a side planner to get in nice and close... Most likely try a flasher and a nightcrawler rig behind... Will fish shallow and at about 1.4 mph... Can't decide sometimes this time of year trolling a wolly bugger can be really good too... might put my second pole out with one of those on...

What do you like and what odds do you put on catching some? I'll report fish numbers, fish per hour and etc and see how good you do... will try some of your tips and how they turn out... Thanks Later J

I think I have one of those, I'll give it a try, how deep? J

I usually use the countdown should go around 7 _10 feet good luck. I will be chasing smallies tomorrow

I do well slow trolling woolly buggers about 3 feet behind a single split shot this time of year. I like to keep the rod in my hand and provide an erratic twitch to it every few seconds. This twitch really triggers them to bite sometimes.

Ok I drug the rapala for a loop nothing, but we picked up 3 on the Koke rigs. Thanks for the tip but I don't know how to fish rapala correctly. Sorry J

What color wolly bugger? Put on a purple one nothing yet but I got one more on the Koke rig. 14.5" best of day so far. Later J

We are soaking worms around Millers boat house now. Seen lots of fish on the graph but not many takers. Did your son get off on his mission? J

He graduates from Mountain Crest next month and leaves July 8. Gonna be hard to live without my fishing buddy...

I feel your pain my fishing buddy has been out for six months and it is just starting to get a little better.

I'm in the same boat. My son graduates from MC and leaves in July...heading to Korea.

Yes I'll bet that will be rough, but ya got some great times between now and then. Hope you can get time to enjoy them. Hey I ended the day catching one on the purple bugger and I had one more on it just as we were finishing up but I lost that one. Dang fun on light tackle and a fly, they went airborne bunches of times it was great fun. Thanks for the tips. Ended up with 6 bows on the day and several that forgot to hang on. Fun day thanks for the tip. Later J
