My dad and I launched out of the south marina at 2:30. We didn't have all the rods out before we hooked the first wiper. A nice 13". We have never trolled Willard before so needles to say we were really excited to hookup so fast. I got that one unhooked and while I was letting it back down the outrigger line another one grabbed it. Wahoo!!! We ended up keeping a limit of fat 18" like the ones pictured. I have shore and float tubed Willard a ton but am kicking myself for having never trolled it before. So I have had way better wiper fishing this year than I have for the last three or four. I've limited all three times I've fished from shore as well as today. Any guesses why?

Great fish, nice going! Foolish me, I thought the weather would have put them down today.

I need to try the tube, I guess. Been up 4 times this year from shore and haven't caught one yet.

What were you trolling?

you wouldn't tell a fellow fisherman what you was trolling with??? as Myself and neighbor have been out three times and three times skunked!! while we watch other people catch fish.. by the way I do practice catch and release. pm me if you'd like

Try a number 5 or 7 lipless crank bait ( rattlin rap, rattle trap) in natural shad or chrome with blue or black. That is a good standby lure for wipers. If you want to go a little deeper try a shad rap in the same sizes. My preferred size is the number 5.
