I took the tube out early today for some pre-work fishing.

The fishing pre-dawn was quick for the finless freddies. Flies (buggers and mohairs) were the hottest item.

I reeled in 6 before the sun hit the water. 1 in the 45mins I was there after sunup.

One reason I like fishing Deer Creek is the proximity of Heber airport and the variety of cool aircraft that often buzz the lake.

Today the aircraft provided the highlight as a P-51D buzzed the lake at about 100' off the deck then climbed over the dam into a victory roll.

Man, there is nothing like the sound of a roaring Merlin.

I wish I would have gotten a picture or video but I was too slow with the camera.

I appreciate your report. I fish from a pontoon boat and have wanted to go up and give it a try. Must be cold that early in the morning. Sounds like it was worth it. I love seeing those planes too. I have had a couple of WWII planes buzz close to the deck and that is cool to see.
Thanks

It was cold this morning but it wasn't windy so it doesn't really feel very cold. Three sweatshirt layers and I was comfy.

Water temp was 49.3 -- down a degree from my trip Saturday. And it didn't move as air temp was still below that when I left.

Usually this is the last week of rising water levels before they start really draining the lake. It appears we're going to peak 5 feet or so below last year.

Hopefully May and June bring us a bit more water relief.
