Wife and I went today and cleaned up on the bass. First trip out with the bassboat this year. Started right up and ran great after sitting in garage since Sept. Not bad for a 19 year old boat.
Wife caught the biggest at 16" on a watermelon red fluke. By the time I got my Zoom Horny Toad in watermelon red tied on, she had two in the boat. We caught around 30 bass in three hours between 11 and 2. Most were between 12" and 14" with an occasional 15" and we lost a good number of them to the smartweed. The smartweed is just starting to green up. We found them in about 4' of water cruising around in the smartweed. Water temp was 61 when we started and 66 when we got done. The bass were fat, solid and great fighters.
