Went to Cottonwood Friday afternoon to see if the crappies were in. A friend and I have been going about once a week, and not much has happened until today. We went Tuesday night and managed one crappie each.

I got there around 4:00. Apparently they were biting well earlier in the day, but quit around noon. Picked up a few here and there during daylight hours, and a bunch of small bass. After it got dark the crappies started biting better. Most were in the 4"-6" range, though. I must have caught 50+ dinks. Did manage about 15 keepers by the time I left at 3 AM. The biggest was a little over 12", so there are good sized fish to be had.

Provided the warm temperatures haven't caused a sudden snowmelt or the weather doesn't take a dump on us, there should be crappies there in greater or lesser numbers until the spawn finishes around the first week of June.
