Nope Mantua sucks. Went on Saturday and caught nothing not even a single bump on my fly rod. There were a few people catching some trout and bass but only like 3-5 in the day of max. Water is still to cold so there in the deep parts still.

Yep mantua sucks right now, I'd advise everyone to stay away for at least another month, no fish to see there.

I totally agree, that water is icy at mantua, it won't be warm till at least mid june in high elevation like that. Went there yesterday and nada. Wipers are for sure on at Willard though.

I'm pretty sure after all that winter pressure, that lake got fished out, and there's nothing left. Warm/Cold water, elevation - don't matter. They're all gone gone gone.
Nothing but weeds left.
If FFL didn't catch anything you can KNOW it's dead gone

Yep that lakes the last one to warm up in the spring, way way too high in the mountains. I'm surprised anything survives in there. I say save your five bucks and take the next few weeks off. If were lucky the bass might spawn in early to mid July.

The reports are true. What few fish are left in there, aren't really worth your time and efforts IMO. You will catch some but they are few and far between. Used to be a good little pond, but got fished wayyyy too much.

I am not sure that I agree with you guys... I have only been twice since ice off--I only fished for gills for 30 minutes once. I was able to land limit a trout around 16" each time I went in less than 2 hours.
That lake has a lot of weeds and shoreline structure. What that means to me is high survival rates for the offspring of the survivors and high biologic productivity which makes large quantities of food available--in my mind, this all means that it can support large harvests and recover quickly.
I would like to hear what someone who really knows what they are talking about comment. But from what I know, Mantua is a special place in Utah. I haven't seen any other places in Utah with that kind of high quality habitat. Just my .02 from the outside looking in.

The guys should be using the [#008000][size 3]green font [#000000]for sarcasm or the [#800080]purple font [#000000]for humor.
Is one of your legs feeling longer than the other?
(While it IS a little bit early for Mantua to turn on, it is neither devoid of fish nor an Arctic slush pond. Go there in late May or early June and enjoy!)
