Went out on the Newton ice Saturday morning with kickenbass. I had Christmas shopping commitments so I had to leave at 10:00 am. The catching wasn't stellar but from what I could see on the sidefinder there are plenty of fish to be caught. I got two filletable perch and four small crappie. Four of these came in the last ten minutes before I had to go.
Down by the dam the we fished water that was 11 ft deep and I figure that is about the max for now. Ice at the dam was 2.5" thick but good clear ice. We also fished about 400 yds uplake in 9 ft water and the ice was 4+" thick. Saw even more fish on the sidefinder there and they were more receptive but thats when I had to leave[]
Newton should not be ignored by anyone just yet but hopefully if fishin there isn't what you want then Hyrum and Porcupine are nearby and icing up too.
