Hi everyone,
I made my first trip to Pineview yesterday looking for bass or muskies. The muskies didn't want to play, but I did have a few follows. The smallies were a little more eager, and I caught and released four of them. The first one was probably my biggest ever at 20" long and about four pounds (I measured, but did not weigh it). Fishing was good until the wind started to roar about 1 pm, then it shut down.
Myself and a friend went up today, and yesterdays big blow had knocked the water temps down a few degrees, and we got blanked. We did get three nice sized muskies to follow though. I'll be glad when the water temp comes up another 5 degrees! Fred K.

Nice fish! I've never caught small or large mouth bass. When I was up at Pineview the other day, i noticed fish, mostly in schools of 2 or 3, cruising the shorelines. I threw lures at them but didnt interest them. I know they were not muskies. I thought they just might be carp because they seemed too big for what I thought bass were. However seeing your catch, I'll bet they were smallies.

When I get up there again, hopefully next Thursday, what do you target them with?

Do you know if the crappie festival is up yet?

nice job! were you fishing shallow or out a bit deeper? we were up there yesterday shooting carp and didn't see any bass at all shallow. you'd think any week now they'd start to push on up.

Hi,
All of the smallies that I caught on Thursday were up shallow. I covered a lot of ground and only caught four, and lost one more of them, so I'm guessing that they're just starting to push up shallow.
Yesterday when we were there we ran the same area again, and never saw a fish. If the weather keeps being nice, they should start coming up in force. Good luck! Fred.

my wife and I were in yaks and caught 4 each. couple little fellers and a couple nice ones. we were back in a cove they are in thick brush. We were sight fishing and vert jigging. some fish were not having anything I was dropping. Kid you not i would drop a jig on there head and they wouldn't move. Heading out there tonight to hopefully put a few in the cooler. Carp are everywhere right now and I did see a few musky patrolling the waters edge.

Sounds good. Looks like I will make my trip up there by the end of the month. If you fish there often can you send me a pm when they are spawning in thick numbers because I want to catch some nice ones on my fly rod.

nice smallie! thats a big un' !!!

was out there saturday as well - there were carp everywhere in the shallows - we were targeting tigers and had 2 follows ,one wicked attack on a crank that somehow failed to get hooked up, and saw a few other fish - like mentioned earlier , once the wind started the fish disappeared.

Ya from the past pineview has been hard to catch bass for me because of the lack of entrance with the huge fee's to launch my pontoon and still cant go all around the lake in a pontoon with an electric motor still.

Where are you seeing the muskies? I've been back at Spring Creek a few times and haven't seen anything.
