My dad and I headed to the berry early Friday morning and decided to try fishing the soldier creek side for a change. The water was glassy and the sun was shining and it was perfect for jigging. We slowly moved down the shoreline casting jigs of all colors and all types at the shore and retrieving them, only one bite in over and hour of casting. Then we decided to try trolling our jigs so we could cover more ground. Caught two really quick and then six more over the next hour and a half. Around 10a.m. the wind came a blowing and it got really rough. We decided to cruise over to the west side of the lake and let the wind blow us along as we dangled jigs over the side. We would get a bite here and there but it was pretty slow once the wind started. At around 2 we had grown tired of the wind and headed in for the day with a total of 14 fish. Size was good this time, no planters, smallest was 17 and a couple 21 inchers, mix of rainbows and cuts. I'm really interested to here what some of you do when the wind kicks up at the berry. Aside from going in, what are some ways that you fish when the wind wants to kick you off the lake? Thanks ahead of time and I hope those who went up today (Saturday) had better weather than we did. Best of luck!

Sounds like a productive day even with wind. I know when I am deep nymphing, sometimes the wind chop is great for attracting active fish, but other times the fish want nothing to do with that jumping fly.
Sounds like you made it work. Any color?

White or bright colors seemed to work best. The water was stirred up by the wind and more dirty than usual for spring so they could probably see those colors the best.
