We were up at Currant Creek this morning and took our 5 year old grandson for a fishing trip. We did well in the morning but when the wind picked up it slowed down quite a bit. One guess who caught the biggest fish. My grandson caught it all by himself with only my help to land it. It was 23 inches long, and I think it was a bit over 5 pounds since it weighed in at a bit over 4 pounds cleaned. As you can see from the picture he is one very happy 5 year old.

Nice fish and I'm happy for your grandson. Great memories for him and you!

Looks like he's hooked on fishing. I'd be a screaming girl if I caught one that big on my fly rod xD.

Tell your grandson I might be calling him for some tackle tips. I have never caught anything out of Currant Creek that big. Give that boy a pat on the back! I'll bet Grandpa was pretty proud too.[
] Way to go!

Wow what a fish!
Something tells me he will look back on that photo proudly as an adult.[

Yes grandpa was very proud of how well he did and yes he is hooked. When the wind came up and the fishing slowed down he wanted me to go back home and get the boat so we could go out and catch more.
The 5 year old big fish catching method: Pick out a big fat worm and help grandpa put it on. Cast it out, set pole in the rocks. Go find sticks, rocks and mud to play with. Wait for grandma to tell you your pole is headed out into the lake, wind it in.
