I was up the mirror lake highway today. The road is plowes to the trail lake turn off. You will need a snowmobile to get to the lakes though.

everything is still froze with no sign of open water. maybe in two weeks youll be able to fish them. i was up there saturday

So you are saying there is zero open water on Trial Lake?

I'll bet Alexander Lake, at 9,300' has open water, even if you need to walk a mile or two.

Walk?? More like ski or snowshoe in? Any ways I'll take you up on that bet for $5.
You get in, post pics with open water with a sign that says BFT and the date you took the pics in the next week and I'll pay up[laugh]. You may be right last, year a lake at 9500 ft was just starting to have open water by this time but the difference is ease of access this year.

i have pics of these lakes.... from saturday

I fished Alaxander last year around May 25th. Drove to within 1/4 mile and walked over the hill.
You do realize where Alexander is, right? Its only about 4 miles up a dirt road by the Duschesne Tunnel turn-off.
Low country.[

yes, tried getting up there saturday and couldnt make it to the split in the road. i walked it last year around this time as well. but this year there is almost double the amount of snow. its not frozen like trial is but the edges im sure are freeing up fast

Any thoughts on when lakes on the eastern end may be open, and access to back country camping is good?
Looking to maybe do a trip to the Cuberant lake area.
Isn't Cuberant on the North Slope of the western Uintas? My guess would be by first of July.

Access to the cuberants is not much past Mirror lake itself.
Yeah that's the North Slope side of the western Uintas. If you looked at either link in this thread they mentioned clearing 12-14 ft drifts last week. It'll be a while.
