So I'm thinking about playing Hookey from work tomorrow afternoon at Willard and was wondering if they are still biting? Going to take the boat this time and try the fast trolling and see if I can finally check that wiper off my bucket list. Is anyone willing to share a location that I can try to find that wiper? If so a PM would be fine. Thanks all. Later J

My wife wants to go Sun. or Mon. or both if we can catch any and she isn't bored. I hope you dial them in for us[Wink]. I think I'll try my hand at worm harnesses and drag what ever else kind of hardware I have in the tackle box.

Hey Rod, I'll see what I can do for ya... I have heard shadraps are working well and dark backs with silver sides and I hear the dracula model with the red on the gills is some guys favorites... I really haven't ever had much luck with rapalas but I'm going to try dragging them fast and see if they will work... otherwise I like the worm harnesses myself... Probably try a few crappie too I love catching them... Anyway will let ya know what worked for me... Later J

Hey guys, I'll be heading up tomorrow; I'll be interested to hear your reports. I've done pretty well on the wipers and walleye over there, not sure on the crappie. Do you know any good techniques or locations for them? PM ok, thanks! RW

Went up to Willard for the first time last Saturday. Launched from the south marina. Started trolling along the east side where there were a few boats. Nothing.... So by the time we got up around some reeds on the north side, we decided to flip some plastics for bass.. nothing

So we went over to the northwest side by the rocks to continue flipping plastics for bass. Caught one SM about 2 pounds and let him go. Decided to troll back to the marina. A few boats were in that NW corner. Anyhow, fish started showing up on the finder and we got our first wiper hookup for the day. Caught it on a 1/4 ounce jig head with a Pink Berkley Gulp Alive 3 inch grub. Baited up again. Then caught one on a Berkley Flicker Shad Firetiger. Then another on the gulp alive grub.

We turned and trolled each time the finder showed no fish for 4-5 minutes. Trolling speed right around 3 mph.

We ended up with 8 wipers and 2 walleys. Wipers about 16-18 inches and walleye around 20. We caught them on just about everything we tossed at them.

Great day and it was my first time. Plan on being up there on Saturday. I think the key was spending enough time to find them with the fish finder. Once we found them and they showed up on the finder, we had hook ups. Caught several just casting while we were stopped reeling in a fish.

We saw other boats catching them as well and heard people yelling out, "Walleye!" so we know other walleye were being caught too.

On 5-20-14 my girlfriend and I caught 20 fish in 2 hours trolling rapala glass shad rap trolling north and south in the south west corner. Trolling about 3 mph and switching speeds triggered bites. Planer boards worked well also.

I saw the 2 of you out there around 8:30pm.
