There's a chance I'll be headed up to the Flaming Gorge area this weekend. It would be my first time fishing around there and I would be at it from the shore. My question is, does anyone have any suggestions on areas that are friendly for bank tanglers? I'd be open to other lakes/rivers in the general vicinity, and I'm not particularly picky about what I'm targeting either (tugs is tugs). Any advice/suggestions on where to go and what to expect is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

If you are wanting to fish the lake, Sheep Creek bay is always a good option from shore, I think the creek is still closed to fishing to protect the spawning fish (check the regs.) Go below and fish the Green (flies lures only) on the way to the river there is a small pond off the side of the road that has fish (fun on the fly). Or fish the lake by the dam/visitor center, should be plenty of Bows' hanging around there.
Plenty of water around there.

Remo, this is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Thank you!
I don't know how much time I'll have to get out there, But I'll *hopefully* be able to post some pics with some fishy looking friends.
If anyone else is willing to give up some good locations I'd be much obliged

Don't know if you were thinking of trying the Wyoming side, but we used to hit a little back road by Anvil draw and would fish off a point there where the water dropped off fairly deep close to shore. We were fishing velveta off the bottom and nailed the rainbow and many were 18-20" fish... It's been a while since I usually fish from a boat when I hit the Gorge lately, but it sure used to be a great spot for nice fish... Good luck... J

Basically there is good shoreline access near all the boat ramps and the dam visitor center. If you're into exploring there are numerous other access points by dirt road. Sheep Creek (the creek) is open except August - November to protect kokanee. The little pond remo 5 0 is talking about is probably Moose Pond and is about 17 - 18 miles south of Manila on Hwy 44 if you come that way. It is a fun little lake full of planter size rainbows and a few holdovers. Red Canyon Lodge is a nice place to take the family to eat and play on their lakes with paddle boats and canoes and you can fish for an extra fee. Take a tour of the dam and feed the 10 lb+ trout at the bottom.
Don't forget there is a Flaming Gorge user fee of $5/day or $35 for a season. You can get the daily passes at all the boat ramps or you can get a season pass at marinas, Flaming Gorge Lodge and the dam visitor center. If you go through Roosevelt/Vernal you can shore fish Steinaker, Red Fleet, Sand Wash, or Starvation.

I'd look at sheep creek, brownie, long park reservoir too if your from shore. Doesn't get much prettier then Brownie lake IMO. Spirit lake they poisoned or I'd suggest that as well. I'm not sure where that stands right now, Ryno can fill you in if you message him.

Timing of the spring high flow release is now based on the presence of larval razorback sucker larvae in the lower Green River. It's not a scheduled release anymore and much more dependent on Mother Nature and when razorbacks decide to spawn. Sampling for larval suckers is conducted daily but the last report from the BOR was still negative.
On another note, cicadas are popping out of the ground and the fish are responding well to those patterns, especially in A-section.
Good luck, Ryno
