Alot of spawning cutties just off shore. Only fish between my brother and I that wasnt just off the bank was a 21" hybrid. By the time we left sunday it looked like the cutties where starting to make their way back out to deeper water.

Yes we always try and take our limit from henrys cuz we have some friends like to smoke them. Saw alot of fish harvested. Had my fish finder on my pontoon and marked a lot of fish in the deeper holes but couldnt get them to take on anything. Im hoping to get up there again in a week or two. Hopefully it picks up on flies soon. Cut open the hybrids stomach after gutting it and it had a bunch of little tiny light green bugs. Not sure what they were. Chrinomids maybe?

Bill Schiess Super Sage fly always worked for me at the beginning of the season.
I will get a chance to try soon, and I do plan on mids.
Renegades are always a must.

My wife and I fished it Monday. I couldn't believe the circus around the state launch. The fish were relatively easy to catch, no big ones, three around eighteen inches and one a little bigger. I did see one that was netted that would have gone over five lbs, it was caught right outside the buoys of the state launch. The wind came up around ten and I had enough so we went back to camp. We were trolling on the south shore and by the cliffs.

They are building a building and some more campsites, east of the ramp and up the hill.

Late last fall they built a lava rock dam all the way around the bottom of the ramp and pumped the water out of that area . They had several pieces of heavy equipment inside the dammed area . I was hoping they were making the ramp longer and dredging out the area . Making it easier to launch when the lake is low .

Right on, This seems to be the nicest weather for opening in >5years. Ill be heading up there Friday afternoon, should be able to get the boat in for the evening bite. I like trolling the banks by the county docks, might have to get out in a little deeper water this year.

Launched at state boat ramp friday . The work they did there was to make both docks handicap accessable . They need to add another dock on both sides .

All of my group landed between 35 and 40 and I had 38 on Saturday and Monday trolling. Largest was 22 that had 2 chubs that were 5" in it. Even had one that had a 4" sculpin in it. Best time was before 10 am or after 6pm. Last Saturday we lost one that was probably 8-10 lbs based upon how hard it pulled as it opened up a small swivel and stole the lure. My 5 year old had a hard time holding the bass type pole and I grabbed It and rested it on my shoulder as I maneuvered the boat. Put a bigger swivel on and loosened the drag with the 10 lb leader.

We had a really good opener quantity wise, quality wise not too great. Lots of average 16-18 inch cutties, biggest fish was a 22 inch cut. Finally convinced the wife to come out in the boat with us the last night and she had a great time landing fish. Caught everything on the fly. And yes, we did keep limits one day.

Well fishing was a little slower than previous years. Didn't start fishing until close to 9am on Saturday, trying to figure out what the weather was doing. landed 4 in a couple of hours until some more weather came up. The afternoon was hit and miss, seems like we could find a spot and troll back and forth hitting 1-2 or so per pass. Nothing too big though 1 in the boat over 3lbs. I need to get my own boat, I'd rather be a captain than a passenger. Weather was decent if not for the wind a few times. All my party would do is stay the stretch by the county boat dock, where we were camped. Not usually a bad stretch but I'm always looking for a BIG ONE. needless to say I'm not quite satisfied. I'll be heading back up for more eventually.

sorry been out of the area so couldn't respond sooner...had a great opener! we were fishing by 6am and off the water by 11:30am. we were just shy of 3 dozen landed. smallest was 17" and the largest was 23". The really great news was that only 5 were cutts! These hybrids were super fat, fought hard, my nephew had his 4 yr old and I had my 6 yr old boy...needlesss to say they had a blast! We kept our 8 fish for the day...the big hybrid is still swimming[cool].
I wasn't fly fishing this round...we used 3-4 different type of hardware that worked really well....rapalas (bright colors), spinners, spoons and Jake's lures...
going to try to get up there one more time next week
thanks again for everyone's reports!
