A little bird told me there were a lot of people fishing porcupine last weekend. Were any of them BFT members and would you mind sharing a report? Most interested in the Kokanee. I also heard the reservoir was full can anyone confirm or deny that? Thanks. J

Thanks for posting this Jeff, I was going to do it but got busy yesterday. If a little bird told you about folks fishing it, did it also tell you if the water is clear or still muddy from the run off?
Any info would be great folks, PM's always welcomed too.

Same little bird told me the reservoir was stained but the inlet stream was pretty clear. Sounded kind of backwards to me but maybe that's saying the big runoff in that drainage is past. Have any idea how long it takes to clear up? Or if the Koke still hit when water is stained? Seems like they are so thick they should still take it. Anyway good luck. J.

If the water coming in is clear now, it would only take a few days for the water to clear. They might hit in stained water but it will be a little tougher.

Seems like June is usually a good time to catch Kokes isn't it? At least the gorge picks up in June. I need to go nail a few they drove me crazy through the ice so I need to get onto a good batch of them this summer. Hope they have grown a little bigger so they are worth the trip. Got several around 12" through the ice so if they gained an inch or two they would be alright. Wish I had time to go try. Later J

Yes, June is the time to start hitting the Pig in most years. They claim there is still a lot of snow in those mountains around there but I guess we will see.

Keep me up to date and I'll do the same if I get out first. Thanks J

The Gorge was hot for my partner and i two weeks ago during the tourney, we boated over 50 kokes in two days and lost at least that many. He was in 2nd place the first day with a Brown but got bumped off the top 5 list the 2nd day.

Full to the brim

Is the water clear? thanks for the info.

Wow that is amazing it was over 100' down last winter. I can't believe it filled that fast. Guess it might be harder to find the fish in that much more water. Thanks for the info. J

Het Curt, we fished it today, pretty much a full pond, fishing was dismal, water clarity was really not bad in my opinion, the disappointing thing was, that we did not mark very many fish. May be a little early yet, we tried the normal koke stuff, squids, wedding rings, triple teasers etc, only had one hit, or maybe it was a hallucination, either way no fish. Started at 7am, tails between are legs and defeated by 12. I will be back for revenge [mad] Here are some scenery pics.

Thanks Tim, that was just the info I was looking for. Guess I'll put it off for a couple weeks. How shallow were you trolling?

Well, it ain't fish porn, but kinda a turn on anyway!
That pole bend's got me HOT (for trolling). Need to pull out the rigger and give it a go.
When are you guys headed to the Gorge for the Kokes Tim?

Trolled at different depths from 20 to 40 feet.

Have not picked a date yet, usually a spur of the moment thing, I will let you know, sound like you and Tom did well.

Sorry this is a dumb question but did you fish down by the dam and between the second gulch boat launch and the inlet on the south side? I can't figure why you didn't graph many fish... That place was full of them last winter... I do realize the lake is several times bigger now it's full... Just trying to decide how to fool those little guys... Thanks for your report... J

Normally when it is early in the year, like it is now the kokes are so shallow you will not see them on the finder. They are so shallow that they just move off the side when you go through them and they never show up. As the water warms they do deeper
and are easier to catch. I caught then with side planner and a single bullet weight when fishing the Pig this early in the season but catching can be tough. That is why I ask him how deep he was trolling.
