So I was up at 3 am and out the door by 4 am, which put me at Starvation a little after 6 am. Stop and fished under the bridge on the west side. I had my first fish within minutes of getting my bait in the water. Sat there until noon and had caught 13 fish. All of which were about 16" and about 2 pounds each. They were fun to catch. Some other fishermen came over and asked me for fishing tips. I am always happy to help a fellow fisherman. There were quite a few other people there and everyone was catching fish. All different colors of power bait was being used, I could tell because it would float by. I was using salmon peach power bait (my favorite). We, my son and I, then went around the lake and fished other places. I ended up with a 16 fish day. The attached picture is an 18" rainbow and it was about 3 1/2 pounds. It was a beast and my big fish of the day. Headed home at 5:30 pm and stopped at Deer Creek for the evening bite. My son caught 4 small mouths, which made his day since he didn't catch any at Starvation. It was a great day.

Glad you had a good trip. Strange that you would catch 16 and your son zero. Had a few days like that myself, sometimes on the 16 end, but all too often closer to the zero end.

Glad you had some success. Those days are way better than the skunk days which do happen from time to time.

My son wasn't fishing for rainbow trout. He is trying to learn to fish for bass and walleye. He will put his 2nd pole in with night crawler to see if he can get a brown or a cutthroat. When we were at Deer Creek a few weeks ago he caught a 20" brown on a night crawler. He was pretty happy about that though.
