5:00 am start on the north dike in about 2ft of water yielded 1 channel ( cookie cutter about 24). Just before sun up decided to try deeper water. The move paid off with good action the rest of the morning banking 7 more by the time I decided to call it quites. Good thing I had stopped at sports Weds. and picked up a few chubs that seemed to be bait of choice as I didn't know if I could catch any WB for bait. As it turned out I managed a couple about 7 but only one fish on head the only bite on WB. I was really supprized at the good bite going in such cold and very windy conditions. Most of the fish out deeper were 24-27 in. Crappy conditions but real good fishing. Just goes to show ya never can tell. [fishin]

Sounds like some fun. So you float-tubing or some such? Just wonder how you know the depth if you "banking" fish - maybe a bobber measure?
Entertaining when they are hitting good.
How big were your chubs? I need to pull out some more minnows, but the fresh carp chunks were getting hit pretty well last time out.
So what 24 your biggest? Nice southern sized cat!
Used the old pencil bobber and sinker to get the water depth. Biggest was 27 a big rubber lipped male. All the rest were pretty girls. All of the fish seemed in good shape like they were eating well. Bank fished all morning since the wind was blowing so hard. My little 14 ftr doesn't do alot of wind well. The 2 jet skiers that did show up didn't make it 50ft out the harbor mouth. Really broke my heart.

Hey man, that 27 incher would sure look good on the south team standings. We need all the help we can get to put a damper on those northern guys.
Still plenty of time to ante up and enter. [blush]
Good job on the cats.
