Went to Cabelas this am to check out the TFO Pro Special Fly Rods they have on sale for 69 bucks. They told me that is just an online sale. Until Thursday anyway when the store will honor that price. But Bob in the Fly Fishing Dept. let me have it today at the sale price of 69 bucks. Awesome.
Got it home, loaded it with Sharkskin and commenced to cast it in the back yard. It casts pretty smooth and felt good in my hand. Was pretty impressed with how it felt and casts. It came with a lifetime warranty, so for 69 bucks I'm happy.
They only had 9 of them in stock. 4 8ft 6 in 5 wt, and a couple 6wt and 8wt. I got one of the 5wt. [

Thanks for the tip. With the warranty, I couldn't pass it up.

We need to go break it in Pa. I have the 10' 5 wt Pro. Have had it for about 6 years. Broke 3 times (in the same place), and warranty covered it with $30 send in fee.
Mine ended up being a high end with all the send in fees...LOL.
Nice mid action.

Yes we do Miss Joni. All the clots are gone from my leg now and the Dr. has released me finally. So let the fishing begin. We will get out sometime this week ok? Plan on the carp pond also.[

Thanks for posting this Pa! I've been looking for a relatively cheap 8 weight for my Washington trip in August and I've found it. I'm going to be pairing it with Allens Alpha 3 or Kraken reel. I used some of my cabelas club points and got it for $50! Can't beat it!! [

I always hated the tfo's. I've had 3 in my life time and they break easily. Will never touch a tfo ever again. Doesn't matter if they have it on sale for $20 even. I'm sticking with redigton fly rods. My 5wt cross water been thru so many hiking and float tubing trips to the point I just love it and for the $120 in a combo is great. Next one I shall get for my sinking line this year.

] I sure do love my redington's

I've never had a problem with my two TFO's. I have a 5 wt and a 2 wt Signature Series and they perform well and I only had to replace the 2 wt once because my gf smashed it in the car door on "accident" [
] Maybe it's just the way you treat your rods.

Got to agree with you on respect the tools[

But, there can be defects in a series. As I said, my 10'er 3 times, same spot. Now I have been fly fishing a few years[
] and I can honestly say in my life I have broke 3 rods. Unfortunately, that 3rd rod keeps breaking. Of course this is not exclusive to TFO. Other companies have put out a particular series of rods that had a defect, so, not always human error.

For now I love my cross water. Had it for over 1 year now. It's the oldest fly rod I have/had so far.

I am glad you found the perfect rod for you FFL. I will say it doesn't surprise me it is the Redington Crosswater.
