Did a late evening into the night fishing trip on the bear last night above the bird refuge. Fished till 1 am and had ok success. A friend of mine and his wife, my brother, and his little boy and I caught 10 channel cats between 8:30-1:00.
Smallest about 18" and largest was my nephews at 30". I nailed a 28" to add to my contest score. All caught on cut bait.
Deeper water was the place to be, over 4'.
I know the pic of the 28" looks like 27", but if you look closer you will see that the tape is about an inch short of the fishes snoot. I didn't notice until I looked at the pics before posting this and by then it was too late because I had already filleted the bugger.

Nice job!! That's a big fish. I'd be interested to see how Yote scores this one.

One of these days we gotta meet up for some Cattin'

It's a nice fish, and there were sure a good lineup there. Above the refuge, it that down by Corinne way? Or you talking upper Cutler, but on the river?

I've never floated below, but have wanted to. Ought sign that kid up!

As for Lava's perpetual pessimism of me and my measure - I think 27.5 is the best I can do. It's hard where Cats can be so thick! (not stupid, just girthy and wiggly!)

Here's why. A little extrapolation.
Fair enough yote. It's all in fun anyway.
I don't know how you do it, but that's kinda cool how you're able to mess with the graphics to show your point.
As for signing up the kid, I'm too afraid of losing to him! Lucky little bugger was only using 6 pound test. His skill at reeling it in amazed me[Smile]

Nice report and pics, thanks for sharing with us. Were you fishing from the boat? If so did you launch above the bridge or below the bridge at Corine?
