My 13 year old son and I had a great time Saturday fishing for catfish on Utah Lake. They were really hungry! The "catch of the day" is pictured below.
We couldn't decide if it was a small seal or a big cat. Look at its face. I had no idea they were stocking Utah Lake with seals, but I think we caught one of them[cool]

I wasn't sure what I had on the line. But I knew my 8lb test line was being "tested" for sure. It stripping line like crazy. After 10 minutes or so, I pulled the anchor on my canoe and wore the fish down by letting it tow us around.
It took about 25 minutes to finally get it in the boat.
The catfish feast was awesome! Soaked all of our catfish haul in buttermilk for several hours and breaded the fish with Italian style breading and fried it in peanut oil...

It was 30" long. I have caught a few that long before, but none that fat. I didn't get the wait, but in a little canoe with light tackle, it sure felt like a lot!
