Can I launch a float tube after July 6th at Gunlock? I hear the boat ramp is closing due to low water levels. I was thinking of hitting the coves for crappie. Also, how is the catfish fishing there?

Yes you can launch a float tube after July 6th !
DWR will be at Gunlock State Park to harvest small mouth bass on Monday June 30, 2014. They will have holding tanks and will transport the days catch to New Castle Reservoir. Anyone that would like to assist with this is welcomed to come out and fish... the tank(s) should be there at 9:00 am. Please share this information with anyone you think might be interested.
The water level at Gunlock is extremely low and the boat ramp will be closed until further notice; at 8:00 pm on July 6, 2014. The park will remain open and kayaks and paddle boards may access the water by the beaches, all Quagga decontamination requirements are required.
