Hello all. I need helllllppppp... lol.. I used to fish quite a bit. Then I got ill.. a terminal diagnosis .. that I BEAT... and right after the diviorce... now all I want is to take my 3 big dogs camping and fishing. Needs to be about 5 hours from vegas.. S. Utah ?? but where?? Duck Creek is too crowded for what I'm looking for. This trip would take place sometime in august.

Looking for smi-quiet (or really quiet) clean camp grounds w/ bank fishing near by. But must be dog friendly. My dogs are extreemly well trained.. not barkers and trained with hand signals and one word commands (ran a dog rescute/training way back when) ..

I have no idea where to go that meets this description. We used to go to cave creek / elk flats up in Ely.. but it is too far for me now and too hot this time of year ...

Every other place I went w/ my ex-husband and to be honest I had part of the health problems I had led to brain surgery and even though I'm recovered at 70% .. I only remember Ely and Duck creek... i need help finding good camp grounds.

Can anyone help? Thanks. Nikki

Kolob Reservoir, above Virgin UT which is between Hurricane UT and Zion National Park. Pretty good fishing no campground. (Campgrounds normally will have hosts and you cannot let your dogs run free). You can fish from the bank using bait from more or less Memorial Day through Labor day. Fishing can be very good at times with some big fish to be caught. Not sure what you have for camping. It is pretty steep if you are planning to take an RV. Tent or tent railer you should have no problem. There is not alot of room up there and it can get crowded. You can also try the Panguitch lake area Nice campground but again you can't let you r dogs run in the campground. But you can let them run down at the lake. In NV you also have Echo Canyon Res or Eagle Valley Res just east of Pioche NV. Maybe a little warm there in Aug. Hope this helps to get you out to the great outdoors.

I know when I worked on the forest service in Beaver we had many people from the Vegas area come up on the mountain. There are six alpine lakes and 1 reservoir. Most are at higher elevations around 8000'-10000' range. All lakes have shore fishing and campgrounds next to them. If you are looking to go this weekend there will be a few people but for fishing I have never felt like its too crowded. My favorites are Upper Kents and La Baron. I am not sure about the dog restrictions though but here is a website with more information and Beaver is just over 3 hours from Vegas.

Welcome to BFT! There are lots of areas there in southern Utah. Navajo lake is in the area too.

Navajo Lake has a nice campground. Panguitch Lake is also nice this time of year. They have a north and south campground right off of SR-143. If I was shore fishing I would give Yankee Meadow a try. There is a primitive campground there and the scenery is nice. Good Luck!
