I hit Mantua instead of porcupine Saturday. Boy I'm glad I did. I was setup and on the water by 7 am. I put in at the beach paddled along the south dike along the salad bar with no takers. I assumed it was too early for bass so I trolled across the lake with a 1/2 oz fire tiger Cordele, and wam! My pole hit the water brought in a feisty 16" bow. I was mid Lake so I kept going to the north dike where the trees meet the rocks and tossed a 3" chartreuse grub on a 3 / 16th oz round head rigged weedless. Caught 2 lmb back to back both just under 11 inches. They were a fun fight on a light rod. Start the troll again once I reached the reeds on the north Western corner of the dike, heading towards the point to the west I caught the largest bow of the day. It was only 17.5" but it had a 11" girth. It pulled me around for a good 5 mins before I was able to nab him. It was a nice wild trout with teeth and all. I ended up keeping him for the cooker. After that I started to head back to the beach before the winds started to pick up and found some new structure for my gps. Caught 10 lmb from it all about the same size <10". I called it a day at 1130 when the wind was coming from the West. All in all a great day.
