I was able to get the boat on the water Friday and Saturday mornings. Friday, I fished king fisher island and hideout, couldn't find the schools but did catch a limit there in about an hour and a half. Trolled over to the red cliffs pulling some larger rapalas hoping to run into a Mac. Found a lot of Kokes over there, I mean a lot of Kokes! So thick I thought I'll run the crank baits just under them, hoping to find a Mac looking for a snack. Believe it or not, I caught a Kokanee with a Rapala that is about 4.5" long. I was pretty surprised by that. Power squadron started coming out so I got out of there.
Saturday morning my wife and five year old joined me. Obviously I headed straight over to the red cliffs. Couldn't find a Koke on sonar. Lost one, my daughter lost one, then she caught one. Trolled back to our normal spot and that was a mistake. The power squadron of morons were out in force. Some white haired bimbo with wy tags on the boat she was piloting, pulling a skier, thought she should be staring at her skier instead of where she was going. After I yelled at her she turned so she wouldn't run over our boat. I yelled to keep her eyes where she was driving, it did no good, she passed three or four more times still not watching where she was going. I don't want to see anyone injured, but it would have been nice to have her run that boat into a wall. The power squadron, although not smart, appear to be friendly. They would run full throttle 75' from us while waving like monkeys. There was no way to see if you had a bite as the waves had us moving back and forth so hard that we caught a pup Mac while checking lines. We decided to troll back to sheep creek before we were ran over. Found a bunch of Kokes on the way back, put one more in the boat, another pup Mac. I would have kept fishing the school, but the wife was so frazzled from the power squadron, I didn't dare suggest it. Will head up this weekend to float the green and hopefully hit the lake for some Kokanee.
I should have known better then to fish on a holiday weekend, I guess it's like a woman and child birth, if you go a few years, you forget how bad it is.
I'm bringing a range finder and camcorder next time. I will turn every one of the morons in next time it's that bad.
