Got out yesterday at 5 with Candi to check on the crappie. Went to my favorite secret bluff spot and right off we started catching fish. Willow flies were everywhere and the bluegill were having a good time. In the first hour we boated 31 crappie, but not a lot of keepers. I told Candi with all of the small fish it felt like we were fishing in Wolftever.
Moved on down the bluff, then to the next bluff, then to a dock, then back to the 2nd bluff and long story short 1.5 hours passed and not another crappie. emoBang Did get a nice 15" spot and 4 bluegill.
Gave up and went back to the secret hole we started on and boated another 19 with a few more keepers.
Ended our day with 50 crappie in just over 3 hours, 4 bluegill, a little channel cat and the 15" spot. I took 12 keepers (the only ones we caught) and the spot home for my aunt. I blame the weather, as once the storm moved away the north wind started blowing and it got weird. Still we caught a lot of fish and had good evening with great weather.
Fish came on 1/32 oz lead with mostly chartuse colored baits. Fish were as usual, 5-15 feet down in the water column over deeper water. Water temp was mid 80's.
