I had not planned on fishing today but could not pass up good weather. Alvin was in town so he was game. We hit the water at 5 and went to the hot spot Candi and I fished last night. We got the boat into position and never moved it until 8 when we left. We sat in one spot and boated 73 crappie!!!!! Unreal. I took 28 crappie and a spot home with me for my mom and aunt. I did not think I would EVER get to the bottom of the bucket cleaning fish. They will not need fish for a loooong while after this trip.
We fished our usual, chartuse baits on 1/32 oz lead and the fish were 5-15 feet down over deeper water. I would love to have a camera under water just to see how many fish are on this spot. This makes 123 crappie off this one spot in two days with 40 keepers taken off it. The spot is only about a cast length long, so the concentration of fish must be unreal. We also had around 5 squeaker keepers at 10" that all went back, and we got 3 bluegills.
Perfect, stable weather tonight and the lake was not too bad crowded for a Friday. All in all, a perfect day on the water.
