Is there any website that anyone use to buy material that's a little less expensive comparing to regular sport shops?

I order from Caddis Fly Shop and J Stockard, but mostly buy local. What you need?

Just some times the price for Whiting Dry Fly Capes, some hooks, and tungsten bead heads can make my eye's pop out in the end of the day xD.

Well, hackle unfortunately, took a turn for the worse when it became a hair fashion. To get a cape that is worth while and will tie #2 to #26 you are looking at around $50 to $60 dollars, but they will last a very long time.

Hooks, I get mine from Allen Fly Fishing, as well as beads. Just remember, you can use regular bead and lead or lead substitute wire. Plus if you use a sinking line, let the line be the weight.

You can also buy local and support a couple of local fly tying clowns here: store.flyfishfood.com

And if you want a good hackle, try the Hebert Miner stuff: http://store.flyfishfood.com/Whiting-Heb...hmhcap.htm

Great colors and only $38 for the full cape.

Or go half cape Whiting Bronze for only $34: http://store.flyfishfood.com/Whiting-Roo...whrcap.htm

You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get good hackle and you still get a ton of flies out of these things. More than you would have even 5 years ago.

And we also carry some other stuff. If your goal is to save money, hit up the craft stores. Otherwise, you'll find similar prices across most fly shops and stores -- both online and brick and mortar.

Agree. Flyfishfood is one of my favorites.

I use to buy only from Dennis Brakke at the Fly Desk. I had no idea you had a store/shop. I thought for sure you guys were getting stuff from the same place I was. At least the AFF.
VERY good to know. Are you affiliated with Mike at all?
You have come a long way....awesome.

Yeah, so we basically got so many requests for materials in our patterns from videos etc that we started the store about a year ago (very small selection at first), but things have been going crazy lately and we're expanding to get more materials every couple of weeks. Longer term we'll be a brick and mortar with the idea to be a fly tying super-store, we're looking at retail locations right now, but for the time being, just the webstore. We ship all over the world, so it's been pretty fun getting it all together.

And if anyone wants to stop by my house (i.e. my warehouse) to feel the merchandise, that's cool too. Sorta like Dennis Brakke style there... Smile
