After getting to Mantua only to find out it was closed for the day to outsiders(wished I would have seen the post that warned us about it BEFORE we left) we decided to keep going and hit Hyrum. Glad we did because all I was looking to do was get a little cousin from Phoenix area, who had never fished in his life until this trip, into some easy panfish and we found some willing to play. Targeted perch but had a couple feisty bows join the party. A jig tipped with worm or just plain worm slowly retrieved off wbottom worked best.

Looks like you succeeded. Yeah - I think that's weird they "close" a lake, and for what? Where they all on the water? Seems bogus...
But - glad you kept going and got into some fish for the little dudes. Big grins! Says it all. Looks like you got up by the inlet, hope the powersquad wasn't too forceful.
Couple weeks back when I took the family for a beach day, spoke with the ranger (getting their paddle board) and all he had to say about fishing was perch. Of course trout early and late, but we were there mid-morning into the heat of the afternoon.
I did find a few, one fat chunky! But then little teaser nibbles. Need to bring an anchor in my lil' inflatable kayak.
It's a bit early, but has anyone fished Hyrum thru the ice and can you put a snowmobile on it? Always trying to get data.

Geez, there's always one, wants everyone else to divulge conditions.[crazy] Why not get out there yerself and check? I did have my ice finder out there a couple weeks back, marked off some nice perch - they might be making a comeback.
Ice might be a wee bit iffy just yet, but as for getting your snowsled out - I think as long as you keep your momentum up, you'd be fine. Bring your trolling gear too.

Or if you wanna get your wheeler out - a little modding, maybe some PVC - why not.
