A few friends and I were bored Saturday afternoon, so we figured "let's go camping". We called a few campgrounds looking for an open spot, but were unsuccessful. I suggested we head up to the Uintas. Nobody else had ever been there, and I had only been up to Mirror Lake once when I was 12 or so, so it was a new adventure for all of us. I was hoping we could hike up a couple miles and get away from the crowds, but with several ladies with us, that wasn't really an option. We got up there around 1:00 p.m. and found a spot off the side of the road a few miles down from Trial. I can't believe how many people were up there camping. It was insane.

There was a decent sized river running by camp (I think the upper Provo?). For some strange reason I didn't try fishing it, but didn't notice any fish near where we were anyways.

Sunday morning I talked the girlfriend into driving me up to Trial so I could wet a lure. I even got her throwing out a fly and bobber combo for a minute. She had never casted a fishing pole before, but caught on real quick. Unfortunately she got bored real quick as well. I only got to fish for a half hour or so, but did manage one small Tiger on a Blue Fox.

I did see a deer strolling through camp.

It was just a quick trip, but I can't wait to get back up there and do a little more exploring. Real beautiful area. Good times were had by all.[Image: happy.gif]

Drive a few more miles and walk in a few more miles past that. Suddenly there will be nobody but yourself out there!

I agree with TdT a shortish hike really thins the crowd. Get a trail book and you can find some great areas. Good luck. J
