Finally pulled together a trip with a bud from work who's been telling me he knows Strawberry, well - didn't disappoint. We headed out well before sun-up, and got on the water by morning. Few scattered clouds, but glass calm.

Booked across and rigged up the downriggers, and got to dragging some Koke baits. Didn't take long - a nice fat Cutthroat on board, quick measure, back she went. Back down, trolling on - about 30-40 ft depth.

Mixed it up with some pop gear and a worm, and caught more slot-sized cutts - ranged from 14-19. I did pretty good with a half dozen of those, fun tugs, pretty fish - very toothy! We didn't bother with Cutty Pix so we could get them back quicks.

We also managed to find 4 Kokanee, two bigger ones measured in at 16 and 18 inches - fatties! Good day, good company, long drive. But it was worth it.

As promised - storms came in in the afternoon, so we left just after - noon. Could hear the hail clobbering Renegade, so we packed up and blasted through the storm to load out.

Man - sure saw a mess of Dads at the dock! Need to set a trap!

I'm surprised you dared to wander down to the south side for a change.[:p]

[#484848]Did you catch any of the Kokes on leadcore, or were they all on the riggers?[/#484848]

Well TDT - I came down for Kokes and Cutts, wouldn't dare blaspheme and chase any kitties that far south of the meridian! [blush]

We (I) had one rod with leadcore, and did the pop gear worm game. No kokes on that. They were all on Epic Spinners or Squiddies. But caught Cutts on those same rigs too. Mixed up pink, chartreuse offers mostly. My friend pulled just the pop gear, so I'm sure it wasn't as low as my setup, by his was more sensitive too.

Two firsts for my buddies boat, NEVER caught a Kokanee, and NEVER caught anything on the downrigger. Guess who scored both those firsts for him! Yuuuup! Good thing he had me there! teehee.

Oh, and as for weekday fishing - after seeing the Saturday report - WELL worth it! There were maybe a half dozen boats on the lake, all anglers.
Did see one guy at the cleaning station that may need a primer on differentiating Rainbows from Cutts, as he cleaned and beheaded his catch. Hmmm.

I ran into a guy at the fish cleaning station that was filleting his kokes. I mentioned to him the filleting regs. He stated that he was aware of the regs; however, he was camping in the campground & was going to eat the fish in a few hours. He didn't want to mesh around with filleting at his campsite. In short, he was willing to take the risk!

A few weeks later, I am camping up there. I gut my fish at the cleaning station & then go on to finish filleting my fish at the campsite. What a royal pain in the ARS! Is anyone aware - does the DNR cut you any slack if you are camping in the campground? AL&L does not want you washing & cleaning fish at their water faucets in the campground - so it really makes it hard if you like your fish filleted.

The guy claimed they were rainbows, I didn't get that close a look, except they looked an awful lot like all the big cutts we sent back. I was walking away when I realized he was taking to the heads - wasn't sure if that was 'ok' for bows, though I KNOW you can't filet the cutts - so they can be identified.

My fishing bud did report it to the marina office when he picked up ice, because he KNEW. This was my first on a lake with a slot, so I confess, I'm not accustomed to IDing the difference.

I need to see about downloading the REGs book to my phone.
