Did they jacked the price up to 38 from 30? $8? Someone need a bonus or is it to make up for the second pole permit that should have never existed in the first place. They try to charge you for every little thing they can come up with. Pretty soon we will have to pay a dollar for TP in the bathrooms, put a quarter in to wash your hands and a dime for the hand dryer. How about charging us for 1, 2, or 3 hook, trolling and downrigger permits. How about a fee for how many lures or flies you can have in our tackle box? Sorry for bitchin, got a little worked up when i saw that.

I usually spend more than that in gas for one fishing trip.

Not a slam, but a wee bit of perspective...
Now you know how your employer feels when you demand a raise. (That's a generic "you", I emphasize.) Forced to pay more to get the same thing.

Yes they did. Starting July 1st, 2014 there were many changes to the price of licenses in Utah. Do I dare say that they were changes for the better?
Yes, at least I think so. A fishing license cost me $26 and a second pole license cost me $15, making my yearly cost $41 dollars a year.
Now the permits have been combined and the price is now CHEAPER! It only costs me $34 a year!
Those were not the only changes........
Now a 14-17 year old permit has been created, only costing them $16 a year insted of $26, and they can fish with 2 poles!
The disabled, as well as vets get half off the original license fee price as well!
12 and 13 year olds are still $5, but can use 2 poles without having to pay an addtional $15 dollars.
So in the end the new price system works out in favor for kids, teens, the disabled, vets and hardcore locals who use 2 poles.
Me.......I am willing to pay more, to play more! Golden Trout in the Uintas, Kokanee Salmon in Electric Lake, those are just some of the programs that our license fee $$$$$ pays for!

[#0000FF]So far they are.
But, if they start charging for the leaves that will do away with the old expression "Money doesn't grow on trees".

I look at it this way. The prices had to eventually go up to cover cost of living. Gas is going up. Minimum wage is going up.
But, the DWR "gave" us something in return. The second pole permit. Might not seem fair to those who do not use it, but in all reality, it was the one freebie that didn't cost them anymore. But they did loose the revenue from the many that did buy the second pole.
Tip to all, take your own TP, just try to get the bio type.

A Small number of individuals may have benefited from the rate changes but the intend was and did raise more revenue for the division of wildlife. What those increased revenues will be spent on has Not been committed to by this agency.
More likely training exercises in Tahoe.

I don't know what to say to this.

I made a big deal out of nothing really. I guess should read into it before making assumptions. I was more wondering what all the extra money would go towards. I probably spend twice as much as a license on supplies for most fishing trips. State park pass probably makes up for that $8, 100x. One thing my dad always told me, always take TP. [laugh]

No problem paying extra for those reasons. You make a very good point.

Nothing is free.
Back in 1905 you could pay rent for $5.00 a month. Back in 1950 you could buy milk for 20 cents a gallon. There is something called inflation, I'm sure you are aware of it. As time goes on, the price of goods increases. You can't buy a new Ford Mustang for 2,000$ anymore. Why would you expect license fees to stay stagnant?
[signature]
This Combo license worked in my favor since I always used to buy the second pole permit but these inflation rates are a major problem of the U.S. Even if minimum wage has gone up a dollar or so, the price of literally almost everything has gone up a dollar. Basically it's a losing situation with faster inflation rates than the raised wages can account for. Honestly it's kind of a world where you're really good off if you have the mean and/or tools to do so but life can be a struggle for those who don't. All you can really do is do your best and prioritize what is most important for you to spend money on.

Screamin' deal if you ask me. They got me right by the twins. (No pun intented[
]) I would pay $1000.00 if that were the cost. Me gots to fish.
