Headed up to Payson Lakes tonight for a Fathers and Sons camp out with my boy. I haven't fished Payson Lakes this year yet. Has anybody fished their recently that is willing to give me a report or pointers.

Thanks

I walked all the way around Big East about 3 weeks ago. They were catching the usual mostly planters. Lots of fish were jumping. I would try a bubble and a fly in the evening or early morning (longer if it is overcast), cast small lures, or if you want to fish with bait either Pautzke Balls of Fire salmon eggs or PowerBait will catch them.

I haven't been to payson lakes since I was a kid. Beautiful place. Like kentofins said, just try the usual planter trout tactics. Power bait fly an bubble combo. I remember as a kid I tried fishing a strange bug I found at the edge of the water at maple. We called this bug a rocky roller not knowing the real name of that type of larvae. Caught my first brookie with it. Memories!

Thanks for those who replied. Thought I would give a quick update. The lower 2 lakes are really shallow and we didn't even fish them they look more like mud puddles. Big East Lake was lower than I have ever seen it. The fishing was OK, but I only caught them using a bubble filled with water and casting it as far out as it would go. Never had a strike on any of the normal lures I use up there. My boy had a good time hooking and fighting the planter bows.
