I had fun fishing with the Two Utah Disabled Veterans.
but the bad thing was That the Bus did not get to Soldier Creek till 8 AM
and we did not start fishing till 9 AM
The fish stoped bitting at 10:30 for us. We only got 2 kokes and 3 cuts

I had fun to .I didn't get to fish with any vets but was please to take out 2 young Russian girls who volunteered to help the dav. they had never fished before and where very grateful for a chance to try and catch fish.we also had a tough day with the late start boating 1 kokanee and bout 6 cutts. I went out after dropping then off at 11 oclock and caught another 10 or so cutts . I don't know what happened from Friday to Saturday but I really affected the bite. talks to several anglers at the end of the day and they expressed their dismay at only catching 1 to 2 fish. hats off to the organizers for a great chance to serve and share skills .

It was a good day, but like you said the Vet'S got there late as in years past..The Gail I got to take out lost a big cut at the boat out of net range and one other fish that jumped and through the hook..

Thank you very much for volunteering your time and resources to come up and take a vet out fishing. Without people like you we would not be able to have an event.
I am sorry the vans were late with the first one arriving at 7:25. They did better this year getting there. This is one part of the equation we don't have control of and have to do the best we can with what we get.

I hope the fishing is better for you next year and look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you again for your support.

Went to the strawberry reservoir disabled veterans fishing day event on Saturday and volunteered to take out a Vet in my little boat. The one I got is named Eileen. She is one of the first female Marines. She hadn't even really been fishing before but she had an awesome time! Her first hook-up was a beautiful cutthroat trout. She squealed with excitement when she saw it surface. She caught 6 fish in all. What a day! She reminds me of my grandma that passed. It was so humbling to meet so many people who have given almost everything to this country. Most all of the vets we hosted live at the VA and were bus'd in . They are in need of many things and don't get to do much stuff like this so it made it extra special for me. If you can be any part of this event next year, I highly recommend it. Even if you can just donate something for the raffle, it is much appreciated by all the vets. Basically I had a perma-Smile all day having a chance to do something like this for such a great group of people. Fresh air, blue skies, and someone to share it with, catching fish was a bonus.
