I'm thinking of taking my family camping to Scofield in a few weeks but I haven't been there in 10+ years. I'm looking for tips on tactics and where to fish. I will be fishing from shore and from tubes. Is there anywhere we can drive a vehicle right up to the water?

Yes there are places you can drive right to the water... most notably on the Scofield town side of the dam arm. There are almost always a couple of vehicles on the beach there.
As for tactics, catch a couple chubs on worms or flies, cut them up and tip your favorite jig with them (Color or type hasn't seemed to matter much) and have fun reeling in lots of little cutty's and maybe snag a big one.

As noted, there are some places you can drive down near the water; however, be extremely careful. I have seen reports of vehicles getting stuck and having an extremely difficult time getting out. I know one guy who spent most of the day trying to get his motor home out and finally had to pay for a large tow truck to drive up from Price to pull him out.

Yep that would be Rich (fished with him several times many moons ago) and that is the one I was referring to, but be aware he is far from the only one who has gotten stuck up there.

We have also done well throwing silver Jakes from shore this summer.

The reservoir is only 24% full and dropping so there is plenty of shore access. Like other have said be careful that you don't drive down too close to the water because the water level is going down and the shore above is still very wet underneath and the weeds hold the moisture in. So be safe and park near the willows along the shoreline and walk down to fish. The water temperatures are pretty high also so your best fishing will be early and late. Good luck fishing and don't show up on youtube. If you do I hope it's for a big fish picture.[
