I am pretty sure freshwater drum are in every state I've fished - except for Utah.
(I have fished all over the place too).

So am I right? Or is there a lake in Utah with drum?

They are often called sheepshead too. They are one of my favorite species to catch - they fight like Wipers. I find it odd they are not in Utah. Anyone else wish they were in at least one lake?

[#0000FF]Not in Utah. They are found in the Missouri and Mississippi River drainages...from the upper midwest to the Gulf of Mexico.

I gotta agree about their positive attributes. They hit lures, fight hard and are pretty tasty on the table too. They are closely related to the more popular "redfish" (red drum) of the southern states and salt water. Plus, they get big enough to really stretch your string.

Because of their coloration and large scales they are generally considered a lesser species and do not get the respect they deserve. Kinda like the whitefish in Utah.

They are one of the primary species that are fished commercially in the midwest and south. They can be processed into a variety of products, including fish sticks for human consumption !!! As TD pointed out, they do not exist in Utah or west of the Rockies to my knowledge !!
