how is the best way to set up 3 or 4 downriggers? I have a 19ft starcraft with out board. Any help would be great.

There are likely several different ways but the most common way that I have seen is to have one on either side of the boat and the other two on the back corners of your boat. The two on the side, go straight out the side, the two in the back go straight back. Instead of having 3 or 4 down riggers mounted to your boat, have you thought about using stackers or lead core line to fish four or more lines from your boat??

I have 3 cannons Magnum 10STX with swivel base with a Telescopic boom which extends from 24" to 53"
I don't think you need any more than 3 downriggers.
I stack the downrigger on the right side of my boat
the side rigger I extend the boom out 53" the other on the same side I have it stright back.
This is how I mount on the Left side.

Stay with two not worth the headache.

Get setup with four if you have the room - you will not regret it. It is a lot less hassle than using stackers. Use the stackers to put cheater hooks on your line. With 4 downriggers I generally troll six bugs through the water (you could easily pull 8 if you wanted) increasing your catch rate.

A lot of people ask me if using four DR's are worth the hassle. Do you get all tangled up? The answer is yes, it is worth the effort. Probably once a year, I get a doosey of a tangle mess & it takes a few minutes to untangle This year, I had a big koke make a last ditch run right at the boat. He made a run under the boat & tangled me up with the remaining 3 lines.

I say - Go for the gusto!
