Haven't been up there since the hard deck, but have an itch to find some slightly cooler waters. Is the weed growth the usual wall-to-wall carpet by now? Water level still good?

I went Sunday morning. Fishing was real slow. The weeds have grown out quite a bit but still not so bad. Think the problem was with water clarity. The water was a greenish brown, and could only see a foot or so. I fished with a large spinner bait and caught only a few, then switched to a plastic crawdad fish very slow. Produce a few more Bass.
Hope it clears up soon but I think the annual "bloom" is on and will stay till the weather gets cooler.
Best of luck to ya, please let us know how it was for you.

Rocky, careful you don't go gettin the itch up there........

Maybe I'll pass. The weed plus that awful algae bloom make fishing double tough.

(I'm glad somebody got my "itch" reference. Good on ya, Forest.)

I don't want to catch your "itch"! But I might yet try Mantua again before freeze up comes around. Had some good fall trips there in the past.
Is it fall yet?
Fished Mantua last night with the wife and kid, the algae bloom is in full swing. The water is a nasty vomit green color and visibility is pretty poor. Found a dozen or so bass dragging tubes along the bottom, biggest was maybe 3 pounds. Tried to find some gills for my 3 year old and never could find any. We fished along the west side and along the north in the pockets of moss and never did see any gill action.
