Yup, another adventure. I went out this morning to check a couple of places that looked great on the Navionics map on my computer, but they didn't exist (poo). Instead I went over to one of drumking's bluffs to map a deep hole nearby. In the process, I got just a wee bit too close to the rock point on the lower end of the bluff and discovered (dk probably could have told me) that there is a mostly-hidden rock that is 2 inches shallower than the draft of my boat. I managed to run up on it at about 3 mph with the motor in idle, so not a big deal - I'd just back off of it. WRONG.

Full throttle in reverse and rocking the boat resulted in nothing more than 30 or 40 gallons of water over the transom and an even heavier boat stuck on a dam rock (well, I really wasn't near the dam, so I could be mistaken). Of course, there was no one nearby to rescue me, so the only course of action seemed to involve someone getting wet. Unfortunately, I was the only someone available for the task. I thought about stripping, but I gagged myself just thinking about what I look like naked. I decided to unload my pockets and go in dressed. After carefully calculating the visibility of the water, I decided that there was a rock that was about 3 feet deep that I could step out onto. Seems my calculations could have been a bit better - the water was 5 foot 9 inches, and I was standing there looking like a frog with just my nostrils and eyeballs sticking out above the water. Cuss words under water sound amazingly like "glub".

It took some doing, but the boat, being considerably lighter with my fuzzy butt no longer in it, finally slid off of the pointy dam rock (again, I could be mistaken) and I managed to haul my carcass back into it. Two days ago Spurhunter offered me a boarding ladder that he just took off of his boat to put on a swim platform, and I was pleased to accept. Guess I should've run over and gotten it right then......................

Once I took the boat out of the water I checked for damage. I'm pretty sure the CLEAN gouge must be the most recent one.

Oh, I caught one eight pound blue cat, so this really is a fishing report.

No pics of the fish, me soaked to the bone, or that dam rock.
