I want to start to plan a trip to go fish for steelhead in late October or early November, but the only river I can find any info about is the Clearwater. So naturally I have plenty of questions.

Are there any better ones than the clearwater?
I'll be mostly wading or casting from shore so is the Clear better for that or do I have other options?
What are some go to flies for steelhead?

Of course PM's are welcome, I'll take anything you can give me.

In addition to the Clearwater is the Salmon river and the Snake. I am assuming when you say "better than" you are reffering to wading conditions and bank fishing.

The Snake is virtually impossible to fish from the bank and has minimal wading opportunties with the exception of Hell Canyon dam and if you dont mind trekking down a stairway that is about a mile or so down (and then back up)

The Clearwater has) in my opinion the most bank fishing opportunity as well as wade-able waters althought the Salmon is not far behind.

The Clearwater has mostly a B-run which can tend to porudce a larger fish but the number of fish returning the last couple of years has not been as high as the A-runs that are in the Snake and the Salmon.

There also is the Little Salmon river which is only bank fishing but many will argue is much more of spring fishery.
