Today I caught so many fish that I though I was Jmax. Then my back got tired and hurt so bad I thought I was Billy Bouymaster. After packaging the fish I stunk so bad that I thought I was ___________(fill in your favorite person to insult).
Honestly, I figure I boated about 200 skipjack. Most were very small and I threw back all the smallest ones and kept my limit of 100, most of which averaged 7 to 8 inches. There were a couple of nice big ones, but I never found more than those couple. The large ones and a couple of smaller fish were on a medium Foley spoon, but the masses were caught on a Sabiki rig. For the first time in my life, I boated 6 skipjack at once on a six-fly rig. I had 5 a couple times today and 4 fish were not uncommon. It made no difference whether the flow was 6000 cfs or the turbines were running hard, the small skippies hit well. Small baits are the key. Once you find a seam or slack water that they are holding in, you can catch fish on most casts.
It was an absolute riot. My arms and shoulders are killing me. Looks like I might be set on catfish bait now!
I did not fall in, break anything, or suffer any disasters. It was quite boring.
Except for catching 200 or so fish...................... emoBigSmile
