Would anyone be interested in having a friendly contest where only ice fishing rods 30 inches or less are used on soft water?
Thoughts?

The idea is still in development. Give me input. I was thinking perhaps the following categories: bait/jig from boat, trolling, bait/jig from bank, fly fishing (not sure how you'd get that one done, but I believe it would be possible), high mountain lake, perhaps others?
Give input. This could be anything we want at this point.

If we could use casting bubble , it would be easy to catch fish on a fly .

You think so? I've had a difficult time casting my ice rods. Hard to get more than about 20 or 30 feet out of them. Perhaps I need to work on my casting skills.

I've kept a short rod handy off ice. Good for vertical jigging off the side of the boat in tight quarters (trees, under bridges, etc). Please left rigged with my small jigs, sometimes size matters. And bigger is not always better.
Though it's usually panfish action.
If you fill a casting bubble half full of water it will cast like a bullet . I have 21 grandchildren . There is alway Spiderman and Princess 28" fihing poles in my boat . We catch 5 and 6 pound fish from Henry's every year on them . If I was in the contest I would use my 30 " Uglystix and a Okuma bait runner reel in size 20 . Probably 8 pound test for larger fish , and down size for pan fish .

I would be interested in a contest. Bass trout or pan fish. Boat or bank

The wife and I have started using yard sale zebcos out of the jetboat, it is way fun. Ice fishing gear out of the bass boat at cj is almost cheating.
