I just called the Strawberry Bay Marina about the road to Renegade. She said that the bridge is not completely done but that there is a single way road around the bridge and that the launching ramp is open. Have any of you used the road and launched there.

I have a 16 ft Bass Tracker and was wondering if I would have any trouble with the single dirt road. I'm planning a trip there this coming Thursday.

I did hear that there were trucks parked on the ramp and that the Renegade campground was about 40% full but they didn't know if it was from the construction workers.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Maybe a stupid question, but you have a boat, why not launch at Strawberry and motor over to Renegade? There has got to be fish along the way, plus some huge ones out of Strawberry Marina area.

I was there last Thursday 9/25 and drove to the Renegade ramp pulling my boat. The road was 100% open with only about a 100 yard section that they are working on, and its a 1 lane section, so if there is a lot of traffic (not) you have to wait your turn! The campground has lots of trailers in it (Renegade campground) and people were coming and going all day. The camp host comes and collects your launching fee and I saw lots of tickets on windows that didn't pay up when they arrived. Lots of people launching there also which was sort of strange for a Thursday...

Anyway, the road was open but still lots of potholes to watch out for and the one section of dirt road construction that they are working on that is about 100 yards or so.

Hope this helps.

Not a stupid question. My Basstracker is a semi 'V' on the front of the boat but a flat bottom the rest of the way back. I have a 50 hp motor that makes the boat haul arse on calm water. The problem being if the wind comes up and its strong and the waves get good size it beats the hell out of you with that flat bottom and that's a long ways back to the marina. If the whole boat was a deep 'V' then I wouldn't care. Plus I like fishing the Renegade area. I usually do pretty good there.

I have a few more flies that I want to send to you. I think I still have your address in my private messages.
