Candi is needing some crappie for a fish fry in a couple of weeks, so we made it out for a little while today. Wind was terrible, but we (Candi) still managed to whack the crappie pretty good. I don't know how many total keepers that we had, but we threw back all 10" fish. Still ended up with 6 nice keepers out of 26 fish. We were about ready to quit fishing for the day and motored down the lake a little bit, and saw Hippy Dave and Bassert. They waved us over as the white bass, spotted bass, and largemouth bass were chasing shad all over this flat that is adjacent to the main river.

Pat was gracious enough to let us come in close to him and set crazy Ivan on auto pilot and throw our crappie jigs into the schooling fish when they came up. And they came up pretty regularly for a while. Candi caught one boat paddle white out of the 8 that we landed. But she really showed out on the largemouth bass. I'm not sure how many of these that she landed, but she had one close to 4.0. The spots were running in the group too and we caught 5 that I kept and we threw back a couple too. I only caught one largemouth bass about 13 inches long.

Those boat paddle sized whites will surely give you some "reel" music and so much fun to catch. They are wonderful table fare when cleaned properly. We caught all our fish on Bobby Garland plastics and the fish seem to prefer something with chartreuse on it. Dave had a nice limit of crappie including 4 TARPs. I'll let him tell everyone about it. I don't want to steal his thunder.

It was a donut kind of day as Candi started us out with a dozen fresh Krispy Kreme glazed and they would melt in your mouth. Now I will have to fast for 2 days just to get even. emoBig emoGeezer Thanks for going with me and beating my brains out on crappie today, Candi. Can't wait until our next adventure. emoWorthy
