Alvin and I played hookie today and went crappie fishing. Hit the foggy Chick at 8 this morning and fished until 12. Hit my favorite secret bluff spot and started catching crappie right away. All keepers at first and Alvin even got a TOAD 15 incher, our first TARP of the year. We stayed on this spot for almost 2 hours and ended up getting 41 crappie. Not bad. Fish were suspended down about 10-15 feet holding over the deeper bluff bank. Hit another bluff hole and got 5-6 more.
Gave up on the bluffs and started dock hopping. First two docks were nothing. Got 2 shorts off the third dock, and 2 shorts and 1 keeper off the last dock. That was it. Gave up and came home.
For our efforts today we boated 54 crappie, 5 bluegill, 1 spot and 1 LM. 61 fish got into the boat today in 4 hours. Alvin took 20 keepers home with him to restock the freezer. All fish came on chartuse baits on 1/32 oz lead. Water temp was upper 60's to 70.
