[#800000]I, along with N.E.T.O. and Bait_Caster had big plans to spend Saturday on Bear Lake. But after watching the weather forecast for high winds up north, we made the decision to go south to the Berry instead.[/#800000]

[#800000]We had a pretty good day. Not an excellent day, but a "good" day.[/#800000]

[#800000]N.E.T.O. had fished there alone just the day before and caught 47 fish by noon! So we figured that with three of us we could put at least 100 fish in the boat. But no such luck. It took all three of us just to land 48 and we didn't leave till 2:30 ta-boot.[/#800000]

[#800000]We launched at first light and for an hour and a half the bite was HOT! to say the least. We were pretty sure we were going to boat a hundred easily at that rate. Then, as it frequently does, the bite got slower and slower down to absolutely nothing at around 11:00.[/#800000]

[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]We started the morning out in the bay N-W of the Renegade ramp and then moved over to the points east of the Renegade ramp.[/#800000]

[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]The algae is improving but still a mess out around the points. We fished there for a while but the algae still bugged us so we left for Horse Creek where we fished till we called it a day.[/#800000]

[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]Took home two very nice rainbows but all cuts were in the slot.[/#800000]

[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]I have noticed that the days of catching 2-3 slot busters every trip have all but dried up.[/#800000]
[#800000]
[/#800000]
[#800000]It was good to get out with Randy and Terry. Don't get to fish much with Terry anymore so that was especially nice.[/#800000]

Thanks for the report Coot. Heading up in the morning. Everyone including myself throws white tubes, just got off work and only have a couple. So I was wondering if any other colors worked better? Also if you tried tipping with worms or something else? Pm me if you'd rather. I'll post how our day went. Thanks again.

Great info, but you are aware you are telling hundreds of lookers. Look at the views folks. PM's are a wonderful invention.[Smile]
Great info, but you are aware you are telling hundreds of lookers. Look at the views folks. PM's are a wonderful invention.[Smile]
I meant to do just that ... share it with the viewers of this forum regardless of how many enjoy reading it. What I didn't share were the two new methods of presentation that we are now using that even PMs won't get that info out of me.[laugh]

Hopefully you will be able to squeeze your boat in you spot to use your secret weapon.[cool]

I kind of figured that the [#ff0000]____ ____ ____[/#ff0000] was pretty common knowledge. But if it wasn't, well, I guess I've let the cat out of the bag.
It is always a balancing act between sharing reports/info/locations/techniques/lures and keeping hush-hush to minimize fishing pressure on a boddy of water.

And I do respect your opinion and especially why you, of all Berry fishers, would want less pressure out there.

Thanks COOT. I have friends that are at Strawberry all late spring to early fall and they have never seen Renegade pounded like this year. It is because of these reports. If that is cool with you all then keep on keepin on.
I personally found I have nothing to gain by doing it anymore, but I guide so I prefer to show someone what is working rather than tell them.[laugh]
[signature]
I guess it is all a matter of degree, but my posts at most would say the Renegade area. Nothing more specific.
[signature]
And you have already had 11 views[Smile]

If no one made any fishing reports the forum would soon die and if one makes a report one wants it read (at least that is my intent). The "Renegade area" is a large area and Strawberry is a large reservoir.

As many or more people read the DWR's weekly reports or the reports posted at Sportsman's warehouse and other stores. So it's not as if this board is the only place where the pillaging hordes get information.

The DWR report for this week calls Strawberry "HOT" and gives precise locations, baits, and methods. All of them differ from what's been "revealed" here, btw.

I say way to go Coot on giving some details and of the spots you fished. That is what this site is supposed to be about. I do the same thing for Bear Lake (give spots and lures) unless I find they are extremely personal. What you gave is a good, general report. It is not harming anyone or the fishery. That is what regulations are for! Getting people excited about fishing who might not know a location to begin with or what to use is a lot of help. Someone should not be "guilted" into not reporting because they are afraid everyone might be at their honey-hole. Report on my friend and keep the site active. By the way the wind didn't start blowing up here until about 3:30 and the same thing on Sun. It typically blows later in the day comared to earlier in the year.

I couldn't agree more Kent. Sure some folks read this forum and use the info gathered but far more use the word of mouth method to find out where to fish. This all comes from me talking to folks that are out fishing the bodies of water I also fish, most have never heard of BFT. I also believe some of the increase in the people fishing certain areas is because of the increased Ut population, they claim it will double in the next 25 years, so it will get worse. Lots of folks see boats in a certain area and head to that area just because they think those people are catching fish. Big bodies of water can take the heat IMO and it doesn't mean all those folks are catching tons of fish. Like the title of this post says, "What a difference a day makes, no matter what body of water you fish, it is hard to repeat a good day of fishing.

Old_Coot- thanks for posting your report, glad you were able to get out and get some tugs.

And I have some property for sale guys [laugh]
People I have talked to ALL know about BFT. They don't post here but they read it. This site does make a difference. Sounds like that was the intent.
I am not putting guilt on anyone or saying don't post, just understand it is not just you it affects...or effects[Smile] but everyone.
Why is it some spots or tech. or bait/lure are secrets but others are not. Who gets to judge this?
I use to love fishing Renegade, but it is too pressured now so I don't.
As for the poster boards, you have to look for what you want, here it is served to you, big difference to me.
This forum could very well die if the what to use, where to use it, time of day, Water body, depth, how you hold your mouth[laugh] .
Kinda Sad in a way. Thank Gawd there are other forums out there...LOL

Message boards, store blackboards, and DWR pages probably can be blamed for getting folks to a given "hot" body of water. Once folks are there, I think binoculars are responsible for more "elbowing in" than anything else.
[signature]
So does BFT and it is well known these days.
Again, all I am saying is who decides what body is okay. I have read people getting BASHED for even mentioning a body of water (Boulder come to mind).
Yes Renegade is big, but getting smaller these days. Instead of sharing info with hundreds, give them a taste then let them pm you for details. You HAVE to be a member here to do that, not a Lurker.
And I would guess as population grows, one would want to be more selective with information.
[signature]
"Who decides what body is okay" You have ask that question at least twice and it is simple, the original poster is who decides, if members don't like it, they usually say something in a PM or reply to the poster. I have brought this up many many times about making this forum one that only members can view, the vast majority of members like it the way it is and don't want to see it change. That could have changed since the last time I ask the question but I doubt it. To me, the fact that so many people view our post but few reply to them is a bigger problem than those that use that info to go catch fish at those locations. The fish are there for everyone to use and giving folks a heads up on where to start isn't a big deal IMO but I get your point. If you go back twenty years ago, there were less people fishing then but I bet there were those that feel the same as you do now when anyone started fishing their favorite spot. Life goes on and before you know it this same thing will happen again, no matter where you fish, even Idaho.
[signature]
Not posting vague details is pointless. I know that some people tend to think that they "discovered" Strawberry but the fact of the matter is that people are already going there anyway. I read things like, fishing with a white tube jig - which is different than how I fish - so I run out, grab some white tube jigs, tip them, don't tip them, and have zero success and go right back to fishing how I always fish for them. To think that we want to hear that you slayed it "somewhere" using "something" is ridiculous. You're just not that interesting. Maybe fishing forums aren't the place for you.

I would like to thank BFT for all I have learned from reading the posts
like Old_Coot said white tube jigs were working so I set one up on a planer board and one on the downrigger and the bite was fast.

but I can go along with flygoddess that to menny boats are going to Strawberry I don't fish weekends unless I take some one that can only fish Sat.
people don't seem to care if they run over your lines. I had one boat that amost hit my motor I think trying to see why we were catching fish our what we were using.
